WiMAX Development in Asia September 14-20

US WiMAX carrier Clearwire announced on
September 14 that it has signed international roaming MOU (Memorandum of
Understanding) with Japan's UQ Communications and Russia's Yota, according to a
press release by Clearwire. As per the trilateral MOU, Clearwire, UQ
Communications, and Yota will cooperate in both business and technical aspects
to facilitate seamless roaming among the systems and devices of the three
carriers. In addition, UQ Communications and Yota will also work with members of
the Clearwire-led Global Alliance Partner Program to expand international WiMAX
roaming to increasingly more countries. At present YTL Communications of
Malaysia, wi-tribe of Pakistan, Vee Telecom and Global Mobile of Taiwan are
numbered among Clearwire's Global Alliance partners.
